My top 10 book recommendations 2016

I have read A LOT of fantastic books this year! But ten of them shined through as the best and I thought that i would share them with you and tell you why I love them so much ❤ Note that this is only with books that I read in 2016 and not in the years before 😉

10. The Hidden Oracle

I was beyond excited for this first book in Rick Riordan’s new series The Trials of Apollo. I loved the book but it did not quite meet my way too high expectations.. Never the less it was fabulous and made it to the top ten 😉 I really liked Apollo in this book but the plot just was not what I expected.. ❤

9. A Torch Against the Night

skaermbillede-2016-12-31-kl-00-45-20

When this second book in the An Ember in the Ashes series arrived for me (a week early!!!) I was jumping up and down with excitement! AEITA was one of my favorite books in 2015 and ATATN was just as good in a whole new way! I really liked all the character development in this book and the quest they are on is super fun to follow! Not to mention the crazy feels!!

8. Illuminae

skaermbillede-2016-12-31-kl-00-45-53

It took me ages to get to reading this book but when I did I could not put it down! I loved all the different formats and I really appreciated all the work there must have been put into developing that ❤ The book was very intense and my heart was about to jump out of my chest at several points! Sometimes it was a bit creepy and scary where I really felt like I was inside the book. It was so lifelike! This book took my breath and everything else away!

7. All the Light We Cannot See

skaermbillede-2016-12-31-kl-00-43-33

This was the very first book I read in 2016 and it still shines through as one of the very best! I got it as a Christmas present from my grandparents who read and loved it and it turned out that I did too! The story is beautifully written and the plot is… I have no words for what the plot is.. It is so many things! It is beautiful, breathtaking, wrecking, exciting, spell-binding and over all completely its own! I find it fascinating that the same book can sweep both someone my grandparents’s, my parents’s and my age’s feet away!

6. Crooked Kingdom

skaermbillede-2016-12-31-kl-01-01-39

I read the first book in this series Six of Crows with the bookclub I am part of Teatimereaders in September. After that I could not wait to read Crooked Kingdom.. When I finally got the book though I was hesitant to start reading it as it was the last book in this series. But as soon as I started reading it, it stayed glued to my hands until I finished it! This story wrapped up perfectly though I would have liked it to continue on.. I was far from satisfied when it came to the adventures written by Leigh Bardugo ❤

5. United as One

This last book in the Lorien Legacies series was one of the best books I have ever read in my life! I absolutely adore the Lorien Legacies series but this book took things to a whole new level! Everything was PERFECT!! Packed with action and all that is good United as One was thrilling and gripping like no other book I have ever read! Click here to hear me rant about how amazing this series is ❤

4. Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy

I read this book here in December and though it is a dark and cold month (weather wise) in Denmark it filled me with light and warmth! Simon is one of my very favorite characters from the Mortal Instruments series and it was wonderful getting back into this world. This book is a mut read but you have to read TMI, TID and the Bane Chronicles first! I am currently reviewing all the novellas in TFTSA one at a time you can check them out here1 here2

3. Empire of Storms

skaermbillede-2016-12-31-kl-00-45-07

I read all the Throne of Glass books this year and when EOS was released I dropped everything, got it and read it. It was even better than anything I had ever imagined! This book wrecked me thoroughly and then put me together again only to wreck me again! So many emotions in a book with pages so thin that you could almost look through them! Anyway if you have not read the throne of Glass series YOU HAVE TO! This is one of the best series I have ever read and damn it is just SO good!

2. A Court of Mist and Fury

skaermbillede-2016-12-31-kl-00-45-38

The numbers are getting smaller and on a second place is ACOMAF! Yet another SJM book stole my heart and is as far as I know keeping is and not letting go anytime soon! The feels in this book is unreal! Feyre is fantastic and Rhys is.. well he is Rhys… I have never met a finer character! I just want him to jump out of that book and take me into his arms and go on an adventure! Just like with TOG you HAVE to read this seres!!!! It is everything and I promise you will thank me later ❤

1. Am I Normal Yet?

img_4324

When I was in London I randomly picked up a signed copy of Am I Normal Yet? I then decided to give it a go as the title sounded super fun and HOLY SH*T!!! That book blew me away!!! Evie is such a wonderful and for me a really relatable character and I just fell in love with this whole book! It changed me and teaches me so many new things! It is the best book I have ever read and I am thrilled to read the rest of this series in 2017! It deserves so much praise and it does not get nearly enough! If you want to here me rant even more about this book, click here 😉

It was nearly impossible to choose the ten best books… but I did it 😉 These are all incredible and I recommend reading them so so so SO much! They all touched my heart and are unforgettable each in their own way ❤

Which were some of the best books you have read this year?

Until next time!

Love – Anne Sofie

So glad All the Light We Cannot See is on your list!! I’ve been writing a similar post that I plan to hit publish on when the clock hits midnight on New Year’s! I know that it’ll also be on my list because it is now one of my favorite reads. I had a similar experience with it because my parents got it for me for Christmas, then I raved about it to everyone who would listen until my grandparents ended up reading it too! We all loved it! ❤️
